Ways to Give

Heart disease is the most common birth defect among babies in the United States. It affects one in every 100 newborns.

Twice as many children die from congenital heart disease as from all forms of childhood cancer, yet funding for congenital heart disease research is five times less than funding for pediatric cancer research.

Over the past 20 years, significant breakthroughs in care have led to a dramatic improvement in the survival rate of children with congenital heart defects.

Within the past decade, however, most improvements have been refinements of established surgical and medical practices.

A Lifetime of Care

Many children born with a heart defect need a lifetime of care. Replacement heart valves and arteries do not grow as a child ages.

Many times the right ventricle, the main pumping chamber of the heart is put under stress because of cardiac problems and could fail. Many children develop life-threatening rhythm disturbances as they enter adolescence.

Make a Difference

Your help is needed to fund research, and to provide care for children whose families cannot afford it, so we can work to find solutions and enable children with heart defects to lead the most normal life possible.
